Secret Service agents protecting presidential granddaughter Naomi Biden opened fire Sunday evening on a trio of thieves attempting to break into an unmarked agency vehicle. The startling incident occurred in the Georgetown neighborhood of Washington, D.C.
Even the Secret Service is not immune to the explosion of violent crime in the nation’s capital.
An official told the Associated Press that agents spotted three individuals trying to enter the unoccupied Secret Service vehicle. One agent fired, but it is not believed that any suspects were struck.
The three reportedly fled in a red car. A Secret Service spokesperson confirmed that an area lookout was posted to find the suspects.
The spokesperson told ABC News that “there was no threat to any protectees and the incident is being investigated by the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department and the Secret Service.”
Fox News reported the agent involved in the confrontation was assigned to guard 29-year-old Naomi Biden, the president’s granddaughter. She is the daughter of the beleaguered Hunter Biden and his ex-wife Kathleen Buhle.

Violent carjackings have recently become a way of life in the Democratic stronghold. Through November, D.C. law enforcement reported over 750 carjackings and over 6,000 stolen vehicle reports in the district.
Washington leaders recently handed out AirTags and wheel locks to residents of certain neighborhoods to stem the surge in vehicle thefts.
Even as many major cities see a slight decrease in criminal cases, Washington is noticeably trending in the opposite direction. Violent crime is up a startling 40% as political leaders search for solutions.
Attacks on the innocent are becoming more frequent with some high-profile examples of the dangerous climate overwhelming the city. Political elites are far from immune to the wave of violence spreading through the nation’s capital.
In October, Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-TX) was attacked near his Navy Yard apartment by three armed men. The criminals got away with his car but did not harm the congressman.
And in February, Rep. Angie Craig (D-MN) was victimized by a violent attacker in her apartment building. She was able to fight off the assailant but suffered bruises in the incident.
