Houston Police Chase Involving Middle Schoolers Ends In Fatal Crash

A high-speed pursuit in Houston Thursday night involving five middle school students resulted in multiple crashes and the death of a 12-year-old suspect. The chase began when police noticed a gray Hyundai Sonata that had crashed into another vehicle traveling at high speed down Richmond Avenue in the Galleria area.

Officers attempted to stop the vehicle but the suspects fled leading to a chase. The suspects’ car crashed into another vehicle on Kirkwood Road but continued to flee.

While turning on Westheimer Road the suspects tried to avoid a METRO bus but collided with three other vehicles disabling their car. Four suspects aged 12 to 13 exited the vehicle and fled on foot.

Police detained two of the suspects who were treated for minor injuries at a local hospital. When officers returned to the suspects’ car, they found 12-year-old Omarion Coleman unresponsive inside.

Coleman was transported to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. The vehicle was reported stolen and two suspects, including the driver, remain at large.

Houston police said the investigation is ongoing and have not reported if any of the suspects will face charges. The identity of the other suspects has not been released.
