Musk Plans Visit To Eagle Pass Amid Migrant Surge

As an immigration crisis continued to rage under his leadership, President Joe Biden finally caved to mounting GOP pressure and visited the U.S.-Mexico border for the first time earlier this year.

Since then, however, the situation has continued to deteriorate, leading to a surge in criticism even from leaders in his own party who are now forced to deal with the consequences of his administration’s inadequate border security.

Instead of pushing for stricter immigration laws or even paying another visit to the scene of the rampant illegal immigration, Biden and his surrogates have attempted to place the blame on Republicans.

That strategy does not sit well with many Americans, including Tesla CEO Elon Musk, who confirmed that he is planning a trip to the border to witness the chaos for himself. Specifically, Musk wrote on X, the social media platform he acquired last year when it was called Twitter, that he will be visiting Eagle Pass, Texas, which recently experienced a stream of thousands of undocumented migrants entering from Mexico within the span of just one day.

“I spoke with [Republican U.S. Rep.] Tony Gonzales [of Texas] tonight — he confirmed that it is a serious issue,” Musk wrote on Tuesday. “They are being overwhelmed by unprecedented numbers — just hit an all-time high and still growing!”

His post came in response to a troubling video recorded by a drone that purportedly showed migrants piled on top of a train headed to the overwhelmed Texas border town.

Democratic Eagle Pass Mayor Rolando Salinas recently blamed Biden for his role in creating the current mess, asserting that he has not heard from the White House and federal resources have been wholly insufficient. He noted that state authorities and agencies have been far more helpful in dealing with the border crisis.

“They are helping and they are controlling the situation as best as they can,” Salinas explained. “But what’s disappointing is that you have all of these thousands of people just walking in without any consequence whatsoever.”

Gonzales led a congressional delegation to Eagle Pass on Monday, during which he declared: “Now more than ever, Congress needs to pass a strong budget that puts a stop to Biden’s open-borders agenda. This should not be a partisan issue. My message is clear – end catch and release, stop using asylum as a hall pass, and put our Border Patrol Agents back on the frontlines.”
