LeBron James’ 18-Year-Old Son Suffers Cardiac Arrest During Basketball Workout

Bronny James, son of NBA star LeBron James, reportedly suffered a cardiac arrest while doing a basketball workout at the University of Southern California (USC).

The 18-year-old basketball player was rushed to the hospital on Monday morning, prompted by a 911 call from USC’s facility at 9:26 a.m. reporting that he was unconscious.

A spokesperson for James’ family confirmed that Bronny had been moved out of the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and is now in stable condition.

“Yesterday while practicing Bronny James suffered a cardiac arrest. Medical staff was able to treat Bronny and take him to the hospital,” the James family spokesperson wrote in the statement, according to TMZ Sports. “He is now in stable condition and no longer in ICU. We ask for respect and privacy for the James family and we will update the media when there is more information.”

“LeBron and Savannah wish to publicly send their deepest thanks and appreciation to the USC medical and athletic staff for their incredible work and dedication to the safety of their athletes,” the spokesperson added.

Bronny James received many well-wishes and prayers on social media, including from Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin — who famously collapsed on the field during a game in January after suffering a cardiac arrest.

“Prayers to Bronny & The James family as well… here for you guys just like you have been for me my entire process,” Hamlin tweeted.

Bronny is LeBron James’ eldest child and is widely expected to follow in his father’s footsteps in the coming years by playing in the NBA. He is currently committed to USC as a four-star recruit and was a McDonald’s All-American in high school. According to ESPN, Bronny is ranked as the 20th-best player and sixth-best point guard in the class of 2023.

His family name and his skills as a basketball player have already garnered a lot of opportunities for Bronny — as he has already signed record-breaking name deals, image deals and likeness (NIL) deals with major companies like Nike, Beats by Dre and PSD Underwear. Sports Illustrated has reported that these deals are valued at $7.2 million.

Many social media users have attempted to blame the COVID-19 vaccine for Bronny’s cardiac arrest.

“Bronny James isn’t a normal teenager sitting around all day playing video games, vaping and consuming sh—y food. He’s a teenager in peak fitness. He has access to the best nutritionists. Access to the best food. Access to the best doctors. Could he have an unknown, unexplained medical condition that caused him to go into cardiac arrest at 18? Sure. But it’s also just as likely that it is a side effect from the vaccine. The fact you can’t ASK that question should tell you a lot,” tweeted popular account “Conservative Barbie.”

“This week 3 public figures suddenly collapsed and became unconscious. Bronny James, the son of LeBron James, collapsed and became unconscious while in basketball training, he is just 18. Tori Kelly collapsed and became unconscious while at a restaurant. She is now in a ‘serious condition’ with blood clots in her lungs and legs. ESPN host Shaka Hislop collapsed on live TV and became unconscious. What do you think is behind so many people collapsing?” tweeted author and influencer Oli London, adding a needle emoji.
