Kinzinger Calls Out Gabbard Over Pearl Harbor Post

Former Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-IL) called out former Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D-HI) over her Pearl Harbor post on X, formerly known as Twitter. Gabbard took to X to post about the 1941 Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor in Hawaii on the anniversary of the tragic day. However, after posting about the “remilitarization of Japan,” Kinzinger called her “crazy.”

On X, Gabbard posted, “As we remember Japan’s aggression in the Pacific, we need to ask ourselves this question: is the remilitarization of Japan, which is presently underway, truly a good idea? We need to be careful that shortsighted, self-serving leaders do not end up bringing us again face-to-face with a remilitarized Japan.”

This post then led to Kinzinger tweeting on X in response to Gabbard. “This lady is crazy,” he posted.

This isn’t the first time Kinzinger has criticized Gabbard. Gabbard has long been public against current U.S. policy in regard to Ukraine during its ongoing conflict with Russia. Since Russia’s illegal invasion of Ukraine, Gabbard has increasingly aligned with Republicans who have held her same view, putting her at odds with Kinzinger.

A military veteran who served in the House from 2013 to 2021, Gabbard recently announced that she was leaving the Democratic Party. However, since this announcement, she hasn’t publicly joined any other party.

Gabbard also ran for president in 2020 as a Democrat.

Kinzinger, meanwhile, has been a public supporter of Ukraine. A former lieutenant colonel in the Air National Guard, Kinzinger served as a House representative for Illinois from 2011 to 2023. The Illinois representative ended up leaving the House after sparring with Republicans who backed former President Donald Trump.

Trump Republicans increasingly called out Kinzinger over his seemingly anti-Trump policies, though disagreements hit a head when Kinzinger joined the House Select Committee tasked with overseeing the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol.

Last year, Kinzinger openly scolded Gabbard over her comments on Russia and Ukraine. “Actual Russian propaganda. Traitorous. Russia also said the Luger center in Georgia was making zombies. Tulsi should go to Russia,” he said.

Sen. Mitt Romney (R-UT) also bashed Gabbard last year over her comments and insinuated she was spreading Russian propaganda.
