Watchdog Group Calls for Investigation of Penn Biden Center

The watchdog organization National Legal and Policy Center (NLPC) is calling on the Department of Justice to investigate the University of Pennsylvania’s Biden Center in the probe into Hunter Biden’s business activities.

The NLPC says that Delaware’s U.S. Attorney David Weiss should look into the Penn Biden Center as well as the Truman National Security Project. The group is asking for an investigation of possible political work done by those organizations on behalf of Chinese commercial interests as well as the Ukrainian energy firm Burisma. Such actions could violate the federal Foreign Agents Registration Act.

The watchdog group reports that more than $22 million has been anonymously donated by Chinese sources to the University of Pennsylvania. If such donations were intended to secure the promotion of Chinese interests as reported, the contribution would trigger a legal requirement for the school to register as an agent for a foreign power.

Donations allegedly increased after the university opened the Penn Biden Center in February 2018, with one anonymous donation coming in at almost $15 million. Another $26 million in Chinese money was donated to the school in 2019. The NLPC has identified a total of $67 million in Chinese donations to the Penn Biden Center and has alleged in its formal complaint that there is a mutual understanding of China’s expectations as a result of the donations.

Weiss’s investigation into Hunter Biden’s activities has ramped up significantly recently, as his office is now seeking testimony before the grand jury about Hunter’s income from foreign sources, including salary and payments from Burisma.

Major corporate media outlets like the New York Times and Washington Post have also finally admitted recently that the material contained on Hunter Biden’s abandoned laptop is authentic.

Sens. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) and Ron Johnson (R-WI) recently released a bank record that was recovered from the laptop showing that Chinese government-controlled energy firm CEFC sent $100,000 to Owasco, a firm owned by Hunter Biden.

Grassley said that CEFC was essentially an agent of the Chinese Communist Party and Hunter Biden and Joe Biden’s brother, James Biden, served as “a perfect vehicle” for the Chinese government to “gain inroads” into the U.S.

The Truman National Security Project is also named in the complaint as a result of Hunter Biden’s service on its board until 2019. NLPC Chairman Peter Flaherty said that Hunter was part of a group of people taking large sums from foreign powers. He added that the evidence shows that Huner was not acting alone in a “crack-induced fog.”

A spokesperson for the Penn Biden Center told Fox News that the organization has “never solicited or received” any gifts from China or any foreign entity. The spokesperson said that the Center receives all of its funding from the university, which of course does not address where the university got the funds.
