President Donald Trump took to social media after the first 2024 presidential debate to accuse ABC News moderators of unfair bias, claiming it was a “three on one” situation against him.
Trump’s accusation followed multiple instances of moderators David Muir and Linsey Davis fact-checking him, while Vice President Kamala Harris went unchecked for false claims.
During the debate, Davis interrupted Trump when he spoke about post-birth abortion laws, dismissing his statement outright. However, when Harris falsely claimed Trump opposed in vitro fertilization, the moderators stayed silent, leaving Trump and his supporters frustrated. Trump’s son, Donald Trump Jr., took to X to point out the apparent double standard.
The lack of balance in the fact-checking left many conservative viewers feeling that Trump was being unfairly treated.
Harris’ other controversial claims, including references to debunked remarks Trump allegedly made about Charlottesville and the military, were similarly ignored by the moderators.
Held at the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia, the debate has sparked a conversation about media bias as the 2024 election campaign intensifies. Trump’s supporters are echoing his claims of an uneven playing field and are hoping for a fairer format in future debates.
