President Donald Trump has signed an executive order creating a task force to investigate and eliminate anti-Christian discrimination in federal agencies. Attorney General Pam Bondi has been appointed to lead the initiative, which was announced at the National Prayer Breakfast in Washington.
The executive order directs the task force to review policies at the Department of Justice, the FBI, and the IRS, which have faced accusations of targeting religious Americans. Trump stated that his administration would not allow government agencies to be used to suppress Christian values.
Trump also announced additional steps to defend religious liberty, including the formation of a commission on religious rights. This group will be tasked with crafting new protections for Christian organizations and ensuring long-term safeguards for faith-based groups.
Along with the task force and commission, Trump introduced the White House Faith Office, which will serve as a liaison between the administration and religious communities. The office will work to ensure that Christian organizations are treated fairly in all government interactions.
The initiative has been met with strong support from conservatives. Kelly Shackelford, chief counsel at First Liberty Institute, praised Trump’s leadership, stating, “President Trump recognizes that religious liberty is foundational to all of our constitutional freedoms and plans to do all he can to protect our first freedom.”
Trump’s administration continues to push forward policies aimed at defending Christian rights, reversing past restrictions on religious groups, and preventing government agencies from engaging in actions that discriminate against people of faith.
