President Donald Trump has announced the creation of a new task force to eliminate anti-Christian bias in federal agencies, naming Attorney General Pam Bondi to lead the effort. The initiative was revealed during the National Prayer Breakfast in Washington, where Trump pledged to stop the government from unfairly targeting Christians.
The executive order directs the task force to investigate discriminatory policies and actions within the Department of Justice, the FBI, and the IRS. Trump called these agencies out specifically, criticizing past administrations for using them to suppress religious Americans. He vowed that his administration would put an end to this government overreach.
Speaking at the event, Trump stated that protecting Christian rights is a top priority, promising that his administration would defend religious freedom in workplaces, schools, hospitals, and public spaces. He also highlighted past actions by the Biden administration, including COVID-19 shutdowns that closed churches while allowing other businesses to remain open.
In addition to the task force, Trump announced a commission on religious liberty that will focus on long-term solutions to prevent future discrimination. He also revealed plans for a White House Faith Office, which will work with religious organizations to ensure their rights are protected.
First Liberty Institute’s chief counsel, Kelly Shackelford, praised Trump’s decision, saying, “All Americans should be free to exercise their faith without government intrusion.” The initiative has been welcomed by conservatives who have long argued that Christian values have been under attack.
The Trump administration continues to push forward with policies aimed at restoring religious freedoms, reversing past regulations that restricted Christian organizations, and taking steps to prevent federal agencies from being weaponized against believers.
