Trump Demands FBI Accountability After DEI Office Closes Before Inauguration

President Donald Trump is demanding full transparency from the FBI following the sudden closure of its Office of Diversity and Inclusion (ODI) just days before his inauguration. Trump expressed outrage over the timing of the shutdown and called for all records to be preserved.

“We demand that the FBI preserve and retain all records, documents, and information on the now closing DEI Office—Never should have been opened and, if it was, should have closed long ago,” Trump posted on Truth Social. “Why is it that they’re closing one day before the Inauguration of a new Administration? The reason is, CORRUPTION!”

The FBI confirmed to Fox News that the ODI was closed in December 2024 but did not provide any explanation for the decision. The lack of details has sparked suspicion among critics who question the motive behind the closure.

Throughout his campaign, Trump vowed to eliminate government diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs, arguing they distract from core government functions. His nominee for FBI director, Kash Patel, shares this view and has been vocal about prioritizing national security over DEI efforts.

Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) recently criticized the FBI’s focus on DEI policies. In a letter to outgoing FBI Director Christopher Wray, she warned that such initiatives undermine the agency’s ability to protect Americans, especially in light of recent security threats.

DEI programs have faced mounting opposition across the country, with several universities and government offices cutting back or closing similar departments in response to growing criticism.
