Four men suspected of being part of the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua have been arrested in connection with a $75,000 jewelry heist in Northwest Dallas. The robbery took place on September 21, when the suspects assaulted a woman in her garage and forced their way into her home, tying her up and stealing her jewelry.
The suspects, identified as Yean Brayhan Torralba, 20, Alberto Martinez Silva, 34, Manuel Hernandez-Hernandez, 28, and Wilmer Colmenares Gonzalez, 27, were caught using surveillance footage and fingerprint evidence. Gonzalez barricaded himself inside a residence, leading to an eight-hour standoff with police before surrendering.
The Tren de Aragua gang has become increasingly active in the United States, reportedly making its way across the border alongside migrants seeking asylum. Authorities have linked the gang to a range of illegal activities, including human trafficking and drug smuggling.
Reports indicate that members of the gang have infiltrated migrant shelters in cities like New York, using them as bases for criminal operations such as drug and weapons trafficking. This latest arrest has raised alarm about the gang’s presence in the U.S. and the increasing risk it poses to communities.
