Seattle Police Stop Antifa Election Night March Near CHAZ, Arrests Made

Seattle police acted swiftly on Election Night to break up an Antifa demonstration near the Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone (CHAZ) area. Officers arrested multiple protesters for alleged crimes, including vandalism and failure to comply with police orders, putting a stop to what was intended as an aggressive rally.

The rally began around 6 p.m. at Cal Anderson Park, with participants dressed in black bloc uniforms and riot gear. The crowd defaced public property, including spray-painting anarchist symbols and pro-Palestinian slogans. Antifa had promoted the gathering on social media and in fliers, calling on residents to show their displeasure with both major presidential candidates.

Seattle police had a strong presence in the area, following protesters closely on bikes and in vehicles. Authorities used loudspeakers to warn the crowd to obey the law, stating they would only intervene if illegal activities occurred. When protesters ignored police commands and continued to block streets, officers moved in to make arrests.

As the march continued, more arrests followed, with police targeting those engaging in illegal actions. During one arrest, protesters yelled threats at the officers, creating a tense environment, but police maintained control without escalation.

By the end of the evening, the remaining protesters dispersed back to Cal Anderson Park, where their numbers had decreased significantly. With a firm response, Seattle police successfully prevented the demonstration from spiraling into violence.
