Senate Republicans successfully blocked Adeel Mangi, President Biden’s nominee to the Third Circuit Court of Appeals, after significant bipartisan opposition. Mangi’s connections to controversial groups, including his roles with the Rutgers Center for Security, Race, and Rights and the Alliance of Families for Justice, led to widespread concerns about his ability to serve impartially as a federal judge.
Mangi’s affiliation with organizations known for their anti-police and radical political views sparked opposition not only from Republicans but also from moderate Democrats. The Alliance of Families for Justice, in particular, had praised notorious cop killers as “freedom fighters,” which further raised alarm about Mangi’s associations.
Democrats have finally acknowledged the reality that @LindseyGrahamSC has been talking about for months.
Adeel Mangi is simply too radical to be confirmed to a lifetime seat on the bench. https://t.co/7Fz9zfgpYS

In a deal brokered between Schumer and Republicans, Mangi’s nomination was withdrawn along with three other controversial appellate nominees. In exchange, Schumer secured the confirmation of more than a dozen district court judges. However, this deal ultimately benefits President-elect Donald Trump, who will have the opportunity to fill appellate court vacancies with more conservative judges when he takes office.
Joe Biden's nominee for a federal appellate court, Adeel Mangi, was a board member of a group that advocated for cop-killers.
Cop-killers should never be released into society. It’s a no-brainer.
He is so far left that even some Democrats are opposing his nomination. pic.twitter.com/nGjFRRS35n

The withdrawal of Mangi’s nomination is seen as a significant win for Senate Republicans, who have made blocking radical judicial nominees a priority. Republicans are committed to preventing left-wing activists from filling key positions in the judiciary, ensuring that the courts remain impartial and balanced.
Despite the setback, Biden’s push to appoint left-wing judges is expected to continue in the final months of his presidency. Senate Republicans must remain vigilant in their efforts to protect the judiciary from becoming a tool for radical political agendas.
