Repeated Trespassing At Mar-A-Lago Lands Chinese National In Jail

A Chinese national has been arrested for violating a court order to stay away from Mar-a-Lago, President-elect Donald Trump’s Florida estate. Zijie Li, 39, was taken into custody Thursday after attempting to access the property for the third time since July.

Li, who lives in Los Angeles on a student visa, was arrested shortly after being released from a mental hospital where he had been placed following a previous incident near the estate. Police say his attempts to gain entry to Mar-a-Lago date back to the summer.

In July, Li claimed to have information tying China to an assassination attempt on Trump. Secret Service agents turned him away, but he returned days later and was arrested for trespassing. A judge released him on bail under the condition that he stay away from Mar-a-Lago.

Despite the court order, Li continued to approach the estate. Last week, he contacted a homeowner near Mar-a-Lago, asking for assistance entering the property. Police detained him for a mental health evaluation, but after his release, he returned to the estate and was arrested again.

Mar-a-Lago has faced numerous security breaches over the years, including incidents involving Chinese nationals. In one high-profile case, Yujing Zhang entered the property in 2019 with multiple electronic devices. Zhang was convicted of trespassing and deported.

The Palm Beach County Public Defender’s Office has not commented on the case. Li’s repeated attempts to access Mar-a-Lago highlight ongoing concerns about the security of Trump’s residence.
