Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) is refusing to answer whether she believes President Joe Biden should run for reelection or if Democrats should nominate a different candidate.
When asked during a press briefing about her opinions on Biden’s potential 2024 reelection campaign, Pelosi stated that the president has performed a “great service” for the nation, mentioning that he beat former President Donald Trump.
However, the Democrat congresswoman said that she would not “get into politics” when it comes to whether Biden should run again in 2024.
While Biden said last year that he planned to run for reelection if he is healthy, his comments during a recent “60 Minutes” interview have led many to believe he is considering bowing out.
Biden claimed in the interview that it is “too early” to make such a decision — though he did state that he intends to seek reelection, noting that is “just an intention.”
“My intention, as I said to begin with, is that I would run again. But it’s just an intention. But is it a firm decision that I run again? That remains to be seen,” President Biden tells Scott Pelley on whether he will run in 2024. https://t.co/yxmSENk4KK pic.twitter.com/mcTIRtkUBi

Meanwhile, even voters in Biden’s own party have indicated that they do not wish for him to run again. According to a USA Today/Ipsos poll, 56% of Democratic voters do not think that Biden should seek another term.
Biden’s record of skyrocketing inflation has become an issue that could cause difficulties for him, should he decide to run. Alongside inflation, Americans have faced record-high gas prices, and a worsening border crisis.
Under Biden’s leadership, massive numbers of illegal immigrants have flooded into the country through the southern border, with U.S. Customs and Border Protection reporting over 2 million southwest land border encounters during the 11-month period from October 2021 to August 2022.
While Democrats continue to ignore the border crisis, Republican governors such as Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and Texas Gov. Greg Abbott have brought the illegal immigration problem to them — transporting illegal immigrants from their states into Democrat-run “sanctuary cities,” attempting to force the left to experience the effects of Biden’s open-border policies. These moves may also have an effect on Biden’s reelection chances.
