California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) has called a special legislative session to gear up for battles against President Donald Trump’s administration before it even takes office. The session, set to begin December 2, has drawn criticism as yet another example of Newsom prioritizing partisan theatrics over California’s pressing needs.
“California is ready to fight,” Newsom declared, vowing to protect the state’s progressive policies from what he described as “unlawful actions” by the Trump administration. Critics see this as a refusal to cooperate with Trump, whose America First policies could bring much-needed benefits to California’s struggling economy and rising homelessness crisis.
President Trump should actually deport you, Gavin Newsom.

This announcement has fueled speculation that Newsom is preparing for a 2028 presidential run. Instead of addressing state issues, the governor appears more focused on pandering to his far-left base. Newsom’s decision to prioritize legal battles over collaboration underscores his unwillingness to consider the potential benefits of Trump’s economic and immigration policies.
California Attorney General Rob Bonta has pledged to stand with Newsom in opposing the incoming administration. “No matter what the incoming Administration has in store, California will keep moving forward,” Bonta said. However, critics argue that refusing to engage with Trump is a mistake, as his policies could bring economic growth, better border enforcement, and increased safety to California.
Good luck with that 😂

Rather than building bridges, Newsom’s combative stance threatens to deepen divisions between California and Washington. His unwillingness to cooperate could cost the state valuable federal support and resources.

For conservatives, Newsom’s actions are a clear sign that he is more interested in fueling partisan battles and laying the groundwork for a White House run than addressing the real issues plaguing his state. This special session, they argue, does little more than appease California’s most extreme left-wing activists.
