NBC News Deletes Tweet Comparing Illegals To ‘Trash’

Left-wing news outlet NBC News rushed to delete a tweet that included a quote comparing illegal immigrants that were sent to Martha’s Vineyard to “trash” while attempting to criticize Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R).

DeSantis was criticized by Democrats for flying illegal immigrants to the liberal elites’ vacation destination, Martha’s Vineyard, in a move designed to force the left to experience the consequences of the open border policies that they advocate for, and that President Joe Biden has implemented since taking office.

While many on the left have continued to push the narrative that illegal immigration is not a major problem, and illegal immigrants are not a burden, while simultaneously criticizing DeSantis’ actions, one activist let the mask slip — admitting what the leftist elites actually think about illegals in a quote cited by NBC News.

The offensive quote came from Max Lefeld, a Venezuelan-American and immigrant activist.

“It’s like me taking my trash out and just driving to different areas where I live and just throwing my trash there,” Lefeld said.

Ironically, the man who decided to compare illegal immigrants to “trash” is also a founding member of the Casa Venezuela Dallas foundation, which is a charity that claims to assist refugees.

NBC News included the quote in a tweet with a link to their article, specifically choosing that quote to represent the article. The outlet later deleted the tweet following significant backlash.

“You can rip on DeSantis about a lot of things but man did he make baiting these fools into making terrible analogies look effortless,” one Twitter user responded.

“Did you…did they call these human beings ‘trash’?” author Amelia Hamilton replied.

“Remember, kids: when these people reveal, even inadvertently or without self-awareness, who they really are and what they really think, you should believe them,” another Twitter user wrote.

The NBC News article linked in the since-deleted tweet discussed the fact that DeSantis had faced criticism from the left for what they have called a political stunt, but also noted that the Florida governor received praise from many who said that the move highlighted the serious problem of illegal immigration at the southern border.

The quote is still included in the article.
