Musk Notes Timing of Biden Administration Forming Disinformation Governance Board: “Discomforting”

The timing of the Biden administration’s new “Disinformation Governance Board” is not lost on Elon Musk, as it comes merely two days after his deal to purchase Twitter and take it private.

After a conservative commentator remarked that similar political programs were enacted by Nazi Germany, Musk added the comment “Discomforting.” Of course it is. Only two days after the deal was reached for Twitter amid his very public commitment to free speech, the Biden administration unveils this dystopian creation.

Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas says the department is charged with combating the spread of disinformation in minority communities. The White House justifies the rather ominous sounding group as a measure against human smuggling operations along with terrorist and extremist groups.

If former President Donald Trump had created a similar federal apparatus to go after “fake news,” the outcry from civil libertarians would wake the dead.

President Biden chose Nina Jankowicz as the executive director of the Disinformation Governance Board. She immediately tweeted Wednesday that she is “honored” to help shape “counter-disinformation efforts.” Jankowicz maintains the board is committed to protecting personal liberties, privacy, and free speech.

Has ANYONE in the Biden administration ever read or is aware of George Orwell?

She is far from a neutral observer, having declared just last week that “I shudder to think about if free speech absolutists take over more platforms.” Funny, but that’s the exact term, “free speech absolutist,” that Musk frequently uses to describe his philosophy. Perhaps it’s just a coincidence.

Biden, during his 2020 presidential campaign, pledged to push social media platforms to crack down on misinformation and conspiracy theories. And just last week, former President Barack Obama delivered a speech in California in which he called for increased government regulation of tech companies. And, of course, there’s the left-wing meltdown over Musk’s deal to purchase Twitter reached on Monday.

It has been said that there are no coincidences, and the incredible timing of the Disinformation Governance Board screams that it was announced this week for a reason. The left’s reaction to not having complete control of the narrative is as predictable as it is chilling. And they didn’t even try to hide it behind an innocuous name.
