Mayor Adams Hits Beach As NYC Endures Winter Storm

Some high-profile Democratic politicians took the massive Christmas weekend storm in stride as they fled the freezing blizzard conditions to relax on sunny beaches.

New York City Mayor Eric Adams (D) spent the days before Christmas vacationing in the U.S. Virgin Islands as his constituents back home braced themselves for the weather event that quickly became a travel and health disaster.

Adams blew off criticism of his Caribbean trip by saying he had endured “365 days of working without a day off” and needed to take care of “mental health concerns.”

The mayor’s office issued a travel advisory on Thursday and Friday for city residents as Adams was away on his trip.

When Adams was asked about the timing of his vacation, he responded angrily. “I was amazed to see how you responded,” he shot back at a reporter. He protested that this is his “second Christmas without my mother and last year, I was really in a state of depression and what I put my staff through.”

He added, “I can’t do that again.”

When asked why his office had not published the actual dates he would be on vacation, Adams fired back: “Nowhere in the city charter does it state that I have to report to the New York City press where my whereabouts are, and I’m not going to do that.”

The self-pity party wasn’t over, however. The mayor also declared: “I’m not going to apologize for having the mental and physical capacity that’s needed to do the second most difficult job in politics in America.”

The New York Post reported this week that the “once-in-a-generation” winter storm that hammered almost all of the continental U.S. in recent days killed at least 60 people.

As Americans are still recovering and digging out from the storm, with many remaining stranded due to canceled or delayed flights nationwide, Joe Biden took off Tuesday for a vacation in the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Joe and Jill Biden will relax in St. Croix through next Monday. The island was a favorite getaway location for Biden while he was vice president and this week marks the first time he has returned there since assuming office in the White House.

They are being joined by their daughter Ashley, her husband, and two of their grandchildren. It appears that neither Hunter Biden nor his illegitimate child living in Arkansas went along. Reports indicate that the first family has never met that grandchild.
