Liz Cheney Loses In Wyoming MAGA Landslide

With over 95% of precincts reporting, Trump-endorsed Harriet Hageman has handily defeated Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) in the state’s GOP primary held Tuesday, 66%-29%.

Cheney conceded the race to Hageman on Tuesday evening and immediately began discussing her next political move. She said that she is launching a new organization named “The Great Task” whose mission will focus on preventing President Donald Trump from winning another term in the White House.

She said that the group’s name comes from a phrase in the Gettysburg Address, and claimed that her group intended to invoke the legacy of President Lincoln in promoting her brand of establishment Republicanism.

In an interview on Wednesday morning, Cheney said that she believes the GOP has focused too much energy on President Trump and what she derisively described as a “cult of personality.” She did not mention the fact that she has spent the last two years spending all of her own time focused on President Trump.

Cheney admitted on Wednesday that defeating President Trump will “require a broad and united front of Republicans, Democrats, and independents.” She said that she “will do whatever it takes to keep Donald Trump out of the Oval Office.”

Cheney’s astounding obsession with Trump is sure to continue, and she has a few months left serving on Nancy Pelosi’s hand-picked January 6 Committee before the new Congress takes over in January and she moves on.

After years of focusing exclusively on her hatred of President Trump, Cheney and other establishment Republicans still appear to have no understanding of how Trump came out of nowhere to defeat Hillary Clinton.

Indeed, Cheney seems to continue to believe that Trump is the reason she lost so badly on Tuesday and will continue to lose. The point she and others are missing is that voters are thinking deeper than simply supporting Trump. They are voting against the D.C. Beltway Establishment and the corruption it has set upon the Republican Party.

The Cheneys of the world simply do not understand the “middle” part of America. Ordinary Americans see Cheney and her kind as representatives of the Beltway and corporate media way of life.

Cheney probably did not see it at the time, and continues to deny it, but her real political career outside of the Beltway ended when she voted for impeachment.
