During the early months of the COVID-19 outbreak, President Trump got a great deal of criticism for what appeared to be a scarcity of COVID tests on the market. Joe Biden, who had previously stated that he would “shut down the virus,” was quick to condemn. In May of 2020, he said sarcastically, “Where are the tests, Mr. President?” He was referring to the presidential election.
However, now that Biden is in charge, we are experiencing a severe shortage of tests. Biden had the opportunity to order sufficient tests months ago, but he chose not to take advantage of the opportunity.
Now, there’s a part of me that believes this was done on purpose because a test shortage means fewer COVID cases are being identified, which means the already skyrocketing number of cases will not paint a complete picture of Biden’s failure to “shut down the virus.” Even the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is attempting to downplay the importance of testing. However, if you enjoy irony, Biden’s tweet has also stood the test of time. Indeed, Mr. President, where are the tests taking place?
His inability to have sufficient tests on hand is no longer seen as a failure, of course, as he is the president of the United States now!
President Joe Biden remarked, “I don’t think it’s a failure. We should have known a year ago, six months ago, two months ago, or even a month ago, according to some. I’ve placed an order for 500 million pills, or half a billion. Please excuse me, but there will be 500 million test kits available to anyone in the United States who requests them. However, the truth is that yes, two months ago, I wish I had thought about getting half a billion pills.” When you’re in command, you start to see things in a different light.
