House GOP Chairman Steil Subpoenas Biden Officials In ‘Bidenbucks’ Investigation

House Administration Committee Chairman Bryan Steil (R-WI) has issued subpoenas to five officials in the Biden administration as part of an investigation into President Joe Biden’s executive order, referred to as “Bidenbucks.” The order instructs federal agencies to enhance voter registration efforts, a move that has raised alarms among Republicans concerned about election integrity.

The subpoenas, sent on Wednesday, demand sworn depositions from the officials after their agencies failed to comply with requests for documents related to the implementation of Executive Order 14019. Steil had previously sought this information in June and followed up with additional requests in July, but the documents were not provided.

Steil criticized the administration for its lack of transparency, stating, “Americans deserve transparency and trust in their elections.” He warned that the use of federal agencies to influence voter turnout is a serious issue that must be addressed, especially as the 2024 election approaches.

The term “Bidenbucks” draws a parallel to “Zuckerbucks,” the controversial funding from Mark Zuckerberg that critics allege was used to boost Democratic voter turnout in the 2020 election. Steil’s investigation seeks to uncover whether the Biden administration is employing similar strategies to influence future elections.

As the 2024 election nears, Steil and his Republican colleagues are focused on ensuring that federal agencies do not overstep their bounds in the electoral process. The investigation into “Bidenbucks” is seen as a critical effort to maintain the integrity of the election and prevent any undue influence from federal resources.

Steil’s subpoenas mark a significant step in the GOP’s efforts to hold the Biden administration accountable and protect the sanctity of the vote. His actions reflect a broader concern among conservatives about the potential for federal overreach in elections and the need to safeguard the democratic process.
