In Citrus Heights, California, Bobby Tucker is being hailed as a hero after confronting and subduing a violent home intruder who attacked his children. The incident unfolded on Thursday evening when Tucker, a security guard, found the intruder in his home at approximately 5:30 p.m.
Tucker described the frightening scene, stating that the intruder first targeted his 14-year-old son, choking him from behind and bringing him to the ground. The attacker then went after Tucker’s 11-year-old child. Reacting swiftly, Tucker intervened, focusing solely on stopping the intruder.
“My mind was completely clear. I wasn’t thinking of anything, just getting that guy off my son,” Tucker said. “I admit I blanked out for a while, probably scared my kids too. Hitting the guy, hitting the guy and I could hear them saying someone call 911.”
The Citrus Heights police responded quickly, apprehending the intruder who will face felony burglary and assault charges. The suspect was unresponsive when paramedics arrived and was carried out on a stretcher. Tucker later posted images of the intruder before he entered the home and as he was being taken away by emergency services.
Tucker explained that the door was left unlocked as his children had just taken out the trash. “He chose the wrong house to mess with,” he remarked, advising other homeowners to ensure their homes are secure. He suggested keeping doors locked, using alarm systems, and having self-defense items like mace or firearms ready.
In the aftermath, Tucker is seeking therapy for his children to help them recover from the traumatic experience. Authorities confirmed that Tucker will not face any charges for his actions. The intruder, identified as a 29-year-old man, remains in custody.
