Florida Sues Biden Admin For Blocking Voter Roll Integrity Efforts

Florida has taken legal action against the Biden administration, accusing the Department of Homeland Security of refusing to verify the immigration status of individuals registered to vote. Attorney General Ashley Moody filed the lawsuit, arguing that the federal government is hindering Florida’s efforts to remove noncitizens from its voter rolls.

The lawsuit centers on Florida’s claim that the Department of Homeland Security, led by Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, has failed to provide the necessary data to help the state determine whether flagged voters are U.S. citizens. Without this cooperation, Florida says it cannot ensure that only citizens are voting in its elections.

Moody stated that the federal government’s refusal to comply with Florida’s request has forced the state to take legal action. “The Biden-Harris administration has allowed millions of illegal immigrants into the country, and we must ensure that only citizens are on our voter rolls,” she said.

Florida Secretary of State Cory Byrd added that the state is committed to upholding the law and ensuring election integrity. “Florida is calling on the federal government to dismantle the barriers blocking the states from obtaining critical information needed to prevent noncitizens from voting in our elections,” Byrd said.

Alabama and Virginia have faced similar pushback from the Biden administration, with the Department of Justice suing both states for their efforts to remove noncitizens from voter rolls. Florida’s lawsuit marks another escalation in the ongoing battle over election integrity under the Biden-Harris administration.
