Elon Musk Considers Suing Tim Walz Over False Nazi Salute Accusation

Elon Musk may be preparing to take legal action against Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz after the Democrat repeated a debunked claim on MSNBC. Speaking to Rachel Maddow, Walz insisted that Musk had performed a Nazi salute at President Donald Trump’s inauguration rally, despite multiple sources rejecting the accusation.

During his appearance on “The Rachel Maddow Show,” Walz claimed that there had been days of debate over whether Musk made the gesture. When asked about it, Walz responded, “Of course he did,” pushing a narrative that had already been dismissed by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and others.

Musk addressed the remarks on X after filmmaker Robby Starbuck posted a video of Walz’s comments and suggested Musk should sue. “I think I will,” Musk replied, adding that Walz is “creepy” and mocking him with a clown emoji. The billionaire later hinted that MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow could also face legal consequences for airing the claim.

The accusation against Musk originated from an event at Trump’s inauguration rally, where he tapped his chest and extended an arm. Critics attempted to frame the motion as a Nazi salute, but defenders, including Netanyahu, have called it a false attack.

Musk has increasingly drawn fire from Democrats since investing $277 million to support Republican candidates in the 2024 election. Walz, who ran as Kamala Harris’ running mate, has remained vocal in his criticism of Trump and his allies, despite suffering a resounding defeat in November.

Walz’s office has not commented on the potential lawsuit, and MSNBC has not issued a statement in response to Musk’s legal threats. Bloomberg’s Billionaires Index lists Musk’s fortune at $428 billion, placing him at the top of the world’s wealthiest individuals.
