Donald Trump Leads Kamala Harris Among Teamsters Union Members, Polls Show

In a surprising shift, recent polling from the Teamsters union shows President Donald Trump leading Kamala Harris by a significant margin among its members in the 2024 presidential race. The polling results suggest that union support for Trump is growing, despite the organization’s traditional ties to Democratic candidates.

The Teamsters Electronic Member Poll, which ran from July 24 to September 15, found that Trump had the backing of 59.6% of respondents, while Harris trailed with 34%. The remaining 6.4% of voters expressed support for other candidates. In the Teamsters Research Phone Poll, conducted from September 9 to 15, Trump maintained a strong lead with 58% support, while Harris received 31%. Six percent of respondents were undecided, and 5% responded “don’t know.”

These results are significant, given that labor unions have historically supported Democrats in past elections. Sean M. O’Brien, General President of the Teamsters, highlighted the union’s commitment to reflecting its members’ voices in the endorsement process. He shared the poll results on X, emphasizing that the union’s leadership will take the members’ preferences into account when making a final decision.

“Our endorsement process will be driven by the diverse opinions of our members,” O’Brien stated. While the union has not yet made an official endorsement, a decision is expected soon, with the General Executive Board likely making an announcement in the coming days.

With Trump’s strong support among Teamsters members, his backing from this key labor group could have a notable impact on the upcoming 2024 election.
