Democrats Have Blood Coming out of Their ‘Wherever’ Because of Joe Manchin

West Virginia Sen. Joe Manchin is holding fast in his opposition to abolishing the filibuster, and his Democratic colleagues are royally ticked. Biden and company have a radical agenda to push through, including a federal takeover of the election process and trillions of dollars to spend, and Manchin’s obstinate refusal to end a longstanding tradition for political expediency is tightening their jaws.

Unfortunately for the Democrats and a president who desperately needs a win like CNN’s Jim Acosta needs attention, it does not appear their radical proposals will get ten Senate Republicans to support the agenda. Manchin recently penned an op-ed for the Charleston Gazette-Mail in which he explained why he refuses to support the For the People Act, which would give the federal government the authority to dictate to states how they conduct their elections.

In his piece, Manchin argued:

Today’s debate about how to best protect our right to vote and to hold elections, however, is not about finding common ground but seeking partisan advantage. Whether it is state laws that seek to needlessly restrict voting or politicians who ignore the need to secure our elections, partisan policymaking won’t instill confidence in our democracy — it will destroy it.

The senator also contended that federal voting legislation “must be the result of both Democrats and Republicans coming together to find a pathway forward,” and that “voting and election reform that is done in a partisan manner will all but ensure partisan divisions continue to deepen.”

Democrats and their close friends and allies in the activist media savaged Manchin for his stance. The Washington Post’s Jennifer Rubin, who plays a conservative on television, wrote, “It’s time for Manchin to put up or share blame for Republicans’ subversion of democracy” and that his “the status quo leaves him with latitude to make holier-than-thou pronouncements to decry both sides.”

Fox News’ Chris Wallace, during a Sunday interview, asked Manchin if he was “being naïve about this continuing talk about bipartisan cooperation.”

In an appearance on CNN, Rep. Jamaal Bowman (D-NY) compared Manchin to Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) and intimated that he is trying to stymie President Joe Biden’s agenda.

“Joe Manchin has become the new Mitch McConnell. Mitch McConnell during Obama’s presidency said he would do everything in his power to stop (then-President Barack Obama),” Bowman said. “He’s also repeated that now during the Biden presidency by saying he would do everything in his power to stop President Biden, and now Joe Manchin is doing everything in his power to stop democracy and to stop our work for the people, the work that the people sent us here to do.”

But that’s not all, folks.

Leftists are also losing their collective minds on Twitter, excoriating Manchin’s decision to oppose their ridiculous legislative proposals. Here is a small sampling of their teary-eyed protestations:

Nevertheless, Manchin is persisting. Democratic Sen. Kyrsten Sinema is also holding the line against abolishing the filibuster. As long as these two lawmakers push back against the Democrats’ worst impulses, there is hope that Biden’s radical agenda will never see the light of day. The question is: When is it time to refer to these two as “Mavericks?”
