Conservatives Push For Mike Johnson’s Removal Amid Trump Support

At AmericaFest, a poll of grassroots conservatives revealed strong support for President-elect Donald Trump’s immigration policies but overwhelming dissatisfaction with Speaker of the House Mike Johnson. Nearly 59% of attendees stated Johnson should not remain Speaker, signaling growing unrest within the Republican base.

The survey, conducted during the Turning Point USA event hosted by Charlie Kirk, found that just 22% of respondents approved of Johnson’s leadership. These results highlight frustration with Johnson’s performance and increasing calls for a change in House leadership.

Respondents were united in prioritizing Trump’s immigration agenda. A significant 63% said Trump’s top priority should be securing the border and deporting illegal immigrants. Other issues, such as pardoning Jan. 6 participants and addressing the national debt, were deemed less pressing.

Trump’s Cabinet nominations also drew high praise, with Robert F. Kennedy Jr. as the top pick for Health and Human Services Secretary, earning 35% support. Kash Patel, nominated for FBI Director, followed closely with 31%.

Kirk shared the results on X, noting that 71% of respondents support primary challenges against Republican lawmakers who oppose Trump’s Cabinet picks. This sentiment aligns with the dissatisfaction surrounding Johnson’s leadership, as attendees demand stronger alignment with Trump’s agenda.

As the 2028 Republican field emerges, Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH) is the clear favorite, securing 59% support among attendees. These results underline the growing influence of grassroots conservatives in shaping the party’s future.
