Democrat Senator Kyrsten Sinema (AZ) refused to support a $3.5 trillion omnibus spending boondoggle called a budget by the Biden-Harris Administration.
Sinema has established herself in an odd niche within the Democrat Party and the US Senate. With Democrat Sen. Joseph Manchin III (WV), she is seen as one of the most “conservative” Democrats. She is openly bisexual, and as an LGBT woman, she supports gay rights, abortion, gun control, is against the $15/hour minimum wage, and voted against the Green New Deal. As we say, a moderate by any other name is still the same.
In an interview with the Arizona Republic, Sinema stated, “I have also made clear that while I will support beginning this process, I do not support a bill that costs $3.5 trillion.” Americans will take what we can get at this point. Sinema is more fiscally sound than Republicans Jeff Flake, whom she replaced in the Senate, and Mitt Romney, Susan Collins, or Lisa Murkowski. Or this is all a smokescreen.
Sinema went on to detail her requirements, “In the coming months, I will work in good faith to develop this legislation with my colleagues and the administration to strengthen Arizona’s economy and help Arizona’s everyday families get ahead.”
Democrats Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (NY), Rep. Cori Bush (MO), and Rep Rashida Tlaib (MI) gathered at the “No Climate, No Deal” peaceful protest to join forces against Sinema. When Democrats gathered at the White House in Washington, DC, on June 28, 2021, no riots ensued, and one wonders if an FBI-led insurrection was delayed for logistical reasons.
“Good luck tanking your own party’s investment on child care, climate action, and infrastructure while presuming you’ll survive a three-vote House margin, especially after choosing to exclude members of color from negotiations and calling that a ‘bipartisan accomplishment.’”
Tlaib said Sinema was making friends with Republicans. We could almost hear her squeak, “No, Heather, It’s Heather’s Turn. Heather?” She tweeted:
“Time for the White House to play hardball. We didn’t elect Sinema as President, and we didn’t elect Sinema as President, and we won’t let her obstruction put a Republican in the Oval Office in 2024. It’s the reconciliation bill or GOP controlling every level of government again, period.”
Talib continued her tweet throw down:
“Sinema seems not to care that her state is flooding, the west is burning, and infrastructure around the country is crumbling. Sinema is more interested in gaining GOP friends and blocking much-needed resources than fighting for her residents’ future.”
We propose a fundraiser competition between Sinema and AOC. They may negotiate the time and place. A hot dog eating contest, basketball one-on-one, playing tennis, or arm wrestling have all been considered. Other options are in the works. Let them put this to rest once and for all.
